Cape May Shearwaters summer 2005. Three species - can you identify them.
Corys coming at you. There are some in Europe that are promoting splitting Corys.Underwing pattern (white tongues up primaries)suggests Scopolis according to literature - bill size and shape suggests otherwise.

The warm tones to the upperparts and large broad based bill make this a Corys.

July 15 - the very fresh looking appearance is surprising to me as this appears to be a Ccrys (not Scopolis)and yet only a month later they seem very worn and in heavy wing molt.

Corys (Scopolis?)Shearwater underwing. Cape May 7/05. Scopolis average smaller, wings are more pointed, bill is more slender and duller yellow.Molt timing possibly earlier. What is this? I wouldn't put too much faith in underwing pattern!
